Governance

It was recognised very early in the set-up process that good governance is essential to ensure that people supported are cared for and supported in safe, effective, responsive, caring ways and is well led.

To facilitate this ELSI (SW) Ltd has a Governance Panel who are the primary force influencing our corporate governance.

Our Governance Panel consist of three individuals, appointed for their expertise and experience to ensure ELSI has a diverse and skilled leadership team to oversee and scrutinise all facets of the business, to ensure safe and effective service provision.

The people that ELSI supports will have an active role in the governance of the service provided. The views of those we support are most important in ensuring we are achieving good outcomes.

To further augment the governance team ELSI (SW) Ltd has employed the services of an accountant and an HR consultant to ensure that best practice is established and maintained in the vital areas of finance and human resources.

Sarah Oliver

My name is Sarah Oliver, and I am going to be involved in supporting the management team, using my experience and my faith.

I trained as a youth and community worker 30 years ago, and have since been working in youth work, support work, education and currently health and social care. I have also been involved in various projects for children and young people with disabilities.

I am a part-time carer for my adult son with autism, so hope to bring the experience of parents and families to the table.

Anthony Oliver

I’m excited to be involved in the governance of ELSI.

I have been involved in youth and community work since my teens, both here and abroad.  I have worked in a large variety of settings, including education, behaviour management, support work, and careers.  I currently work for the NHS, in a therapeutic role for the mental health team.

We are currently going through transition for our adult son into his next placement, so am well aware of the many hoops to jump through, as I network with all the relevant agencies.

I am hoping that we can bring our perspective to support those running this amazing project.

Alison Beynon

Hi, I am Alison Beynon.  I commenced my career in the health and social care field some years ago working in a residential setting supporting adults with Learning Disabilities.  I later in 2011 attended university to complete a Social Work degree and I qualified in 2014.  Since then I have worked in Social Work roles within adult services completing comprehensive assessments of need, producing care plans, commissioning services via the local authority for which I am employed and safeguarding adults within the community.  I have completed further qualifications since qualifying.  I am a trained best interests assessor, have trained to complete non-criminal investigations under safeguarding, qualified as a practice assessor to support students and I have completed other post qualifying courses.

I have experience in working and supporting individuals on a daily basis to meet their care needs and maintain their safety as well as being the individual who assesses the needs of individuals and recommends support to meet these needs, in addition to providing evidence to a senior management team to support decision making in relation to funding provisions / services.

I believe my experience will be valuable to the governance board because it is broad and I have a good understanding of the setting, the legal requirements and legislation which underpins the provision.
